  • The S1000RR started off life as a super sports bike made solely to compete in the 2009 Superbike World Championship. But the response was so tremendous that BMW decided to go for mass production. The 999cc engine produces 193hp at an insanely high 13000rpm and 112nm at 9750rpm."We intend to take the four Japanese head-on. We did not intend to build a motorcycle like Ducati does or KTM does. We wanted to build a mainstream motorcycle." There were a number who doubted Pieter de Waal, Vice President of BMW Motorrad USA.
